First post – hi everybody!
This video was made by my friend Susana with the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation a couple of years ago. I thought it would be interesting to share it with the EdLab team as it features a program that may be interesting for us for the New Learning Times project.
San Pedro High School in Los Angeles has one of the largest drop-out rates in the area. Docs Rock, a unique program that exposes students to the art form of documentary filmmaking, tries to fight the negative statistics by preparing students for college and employment in a creative way.
This video was shot on a 5D using a Zeiss 50 mm, audio recorded with a Zoom H4N. The results are so beautiful, and the video illuminates academic research in a particularly profound and visually interesting way. This makes me want to go to Iceland.
Imagine if we really worked on this and shot it with more than a flipcam.
Any feedback for this project would be appreciated.
For our longshot style productions or anything that it's more about getting it out fast is the priority, you might want to try auto color correction.
